JOB SUMMARY :

The Technical Instructor Lead is responsible for the oversight and conduct of the Chemistry, Engineering and Radiation Protection Training programs at the site.

Southern Nuclear, a subsidiary of Southern Company, manages and operates six nuclear power electric generating plants that provide approximately 20 percent of the electricity used in Alabama and Georgia. Southern Nuclear is leading the nuclear renaissance by building the first new U.S. nuclear reactors in more than 25 years. When completed, the two Westinghouse AP1000 reactors currently under construction at Plant Vogtle will make the facility the largest in the U.S. with four reactors on one site. JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Educational Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent desirable

Background/Experience Requirements:

  • A total of six (6) years of power plant experience is required, of which a minimum of three (3) years of commercial nuclear power plant experience is required.

  • Commercial Nuclear Training experience is required.

  • Knowledge of the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) process is required.

  • Completion of INPO Instructor Certification Program (ICP) is desirable - The program includes individual, self-paced training at the station using distance learning materials, followed by a three-day session at INPO or a utility site.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide oversight for the conduct of all initial and continuing training for the Chemistry, Engineering and Radiation Protection training programs.

  • Ensure that the Chemistry, Engineering and Radiation Protection training program durations are aligned to industry best, the qualification structures are streamlined and effective, and the programs maintain their accreditation..

  • Lead the site’s Chemistry, Engineering and Radiation Protection Training instructors to close gaps to excellence.

  • Fulfill a designated position in the Emergency Response Organization.

  • This position supervises the Engineering, Chemistry and Rad Protection instructors.
